In the heart of the desert and at the height of 900 m hides “Succah in the Desert”. Our eco-friendly resort offers guests the experience to explore the vast landscapes, the tranquil environment and the clean air of the desert.

Established as a model for ecological desert tourism, we rely fully on solar energy for electricity and use recycled water for sustainable agriculture. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and using Earth’s natural resources.

Guests can enjoy bespoke vegetarian meals by our stand-out chefs, a refreshing ecological pool, orchard, lounge and various special activities according to the season.

Succah in the Desert was founded in 1989 on the verge of “the Negev mountain” nature reserve as a model for ecological desert tourism. It serves as a “man and nature reserve” as itself.

Succah in the Desert is settled 8 km from Mitzpe-Ramon, on “derech sfat Midbar” (desert edge) way, between stunning, genesis landscapes near the Ramon Crater.

As the resort is about 900 m high, we are privileged with a pleasant breeze during the day, cool temperatures during the evening and dry weather in the summer.

Succah in the Desert is an ecological resort and we coexist in synergy with the nature surrounding us: all the electricity is solar, water from the showers and the kitchen is filtered and used for irrigating our crops, the toilets are dry (sawdust instead of flushing), and vegetation crops and farm animals assist in providing life at the desert environment.

The atmosphere at our family-owned resort highlights warm hospitality and delicious vegetarian food, creating a “home away from home” where our guests find an oasis for the spirit.

At Succah in the Desert you will discover a connection to nature and to yourself, as can only be revealed at the heart of the desert nature.

Guests may enjoy our refreshing pool (available from April through October), visiting the farm animals, orchard and serene sitting areas and also various special activities that are offered according to the season.

Volunteering

For those interested in the calm spaciousness of the desert and are interested in a slightly longer stay, we offer volunteer programmes for a period of a minimum of two weeks, (according to availability). Volunteers would assist staff in basic maintenance around the farm and provide assistance in all ongoing activities.

Ecological Desert Community

Succah in the Desert is a unique resort.
Built as a model for desert eco-tourism, aspiring to synchronize with surrounding nature.
The Succah is built of ecological materials, there are no surfaces dug for infrastructures, all electricity is off-grid solar, our gardens and orchards are organic, the chickens are free range and all meals are vegetarian.

The nature around us

Succah in the Desert dwells on the verge of the Mount Negev Nature Reserve, and is used as a “man and nature reserve” by itself.
Every Succah has a spectacular view from the balcony or window, from the sunny landscapes to the night stars. We also sit walking distance from the breathtaking Ramon Crater (Maktesh Ramon), about a 20 minute walk from the property. Within a range of up to 15 minutes driving, there is a wide range of hiking routes, which we will gladly recommend on-site with a map.

The succah includes: 2 double beds, 5 single beds, pull-out couch, bedding, lighting, drinking water, winter heater, indoor seating area, outdoor seating area and tea area.
